Hiya!

I have noticed something strange about Ellie's behaviour in our bed recently.  Whenever she's up on the bed if she's not sleeping she scratches furiously like she's really itchy.  It's the weirdest thing cos she doesn't do it anywhere else.  Ellie has had itching problems in the past due to wrong diet but that's not what this is, I'm just so puzzled at it!  lol  Why would she only scratch on our bed?!  It cant be the conditioner we use to wash our sheets in as we also wash her beds and clothing in it and she's fine in them.  Could she be allergic to feathers (we have feather duvet and pillows) or something?!  confuse.gif  weirdface

Love to you all x

Wow, Jess! That is pretty strange. I'm not too sure what it could be unless, like you said, it's the feathers. I am sure someone here may be able to give you some better advice.

Jess - is she just scratching herself or around the bed?   Is any of her skin inflamed or have hot spots?   Has she always done this or just recently?

Do i ask too many questions :)

Ellie does do that digging the bed/sofa/etc. thing but I understand that one!  lol  No, the problem is she is scratching herself.  Her skin appears fine, no spots.  She's been doing this for about 2 months I guess.  She's always had a sensitive skin and if her diet is wrong it's the first symptom but her diet is good now and it is only ever in our bed.

Not sure Jess - my first inkling would be to say it's an allergy to the feathers - but i would think her skin would show a reaction by morning (she sleeps all night in your bed right?)
Do you think maybe it's an anxiety reaction?  They can itch from that too.   I don't know why she'd be anxious if she gets to sleep with you, but i've heard of stranger things - dogs who just don't want to go to sleep and get all nervous but that's usually ones who sleep away from owners or in kennels.
It would have to probably be process of elimination for you to find out.  I'd first get the feather pillows and/or quilt out of your bed to see if that stops it (she may just not like the smell?)  If she still itches, i'd change your detergent - have you changed the fragrance/type - not brand, but you know how they have mountain air, spring breeze, etc.
Have you changed anything like room freshners, candle scents, etc in the room?  That could do it too.
If neither of those work, i would think it'd probably be anxiety of some sort.  There are calming herbs you could give her if need be.
Hope something works, hon :)   Let us know

Hey Jess - did you ever figure out what Elle's itching problem was in the bed?
