Abby is undergoing surgery in the morning on her knee. She will have to spend the night after the surgery so they can check her in the morning. I have always taken my animals home after surgery, in case they become sick in the evening. The vets office does not have anyone there at night. I am hesitant to leave her and if I fuss enough they will probably let me have her, if I bring her back the next morning for them to check. Quesion: should I leave her, so she can stay rested and quiet all evening in a cage. Or bring her home that afternoon and try to keep her quiet myself.
she is home from surgery, I decided to get her. I put her in a new playpen and am babying her. she is in a lot of misery though. she goes back tomorrow to check her surgery site.
I'm so sorry I didn't manage to reply to this before! Glad to hear it all went well, and I think perhaps you did ther ight thing bringing her home with you if you were worried. Poor baby, send her a gentle snuggle from me, wont you?
I am glad all is well. I changed vets when I got Lucy. When it came time to have her spayed I asked the vet, where my hubby takes our lab, if anyone is with them overnight when they were recovering. The answer was no, that they recover all on their own. I asked if I could take her home after surgery, after she woke up from sedation and the answer was no to that too. I didn't like that answer at all being an ICU RN, we don't leave humans alone to recover. So I quickly changed vets, I pay more, but I know that my lil babies are VERY WELL taken care of. The vet I go to is the wildlife refuge in our area AND has a 24 hour emergency at all times. That makes me feel so safe.
I am glad that Abbey is on the mend. Send her an ear scratch for us.
