ok everyone I have 3 of my females in heat now, I have an older 7 yr old chi (cody joe) that was nuetered back in November. I was always under the impression that once you had a male nuetered, they lost all interest in breeding. Well much to my surprise, I caught my cody Joe tied up with my long haired black tri female last saturday. I was very upset when i seen this. I told my hubby i was calling our vet come Monday, well I called my vet on Monday!!! Even the receptionist had never heard of this b4, she went and asked the DR. He got on the phone and pulled up Cody's records. He kinda chuckled and said well at his age of 7, and he has bred b4 then yes he knows what it is and he will still try to breed with the females he is just shooting blanks. This really puzzled me because like i said I always thought the urge was gone once they were nuetered. after the dr got off and the receptionist got back on she said to me wow i learned something new today, I even told her yeah I did as well. I was so worried after i caught him last weekend caught up with my female, (dont laugh at me, lol) My hubby was chuckling and teasing me that I was playing with our dogs sack. I wanted to make sure that the vet had done what he was supposed to do. Yes his sack was empty!!!! But i wanted to see if anyone else has had this happen to them. I just figured I would give u all a bit of a chuckle of my experience with this. I was just floored when the vet said yes he will still try to breed and that it was nothing to worry about.
Honestly, November isn't that long. Two of my boys were neutered when they were adults and it was a good six months before they really lost interest in being "manly". And they were never used as studs at all. Even now, when I have a girl in heat, my one boy will give her a bit of a humping if he thinks I'm not looking. Funniest thing ever, if I AM watching, he will walk by her real slow and give the air a couple ferocious humps while he glares at me. LOL Around here, our answer to all that is "Well you know how men are." When my girls are standing, ALL the boys are kept away or they'd be humped within an inch of their life by my old men. HA!
Thats too funny Karen lol. I haven't herd of it but I guess could be like a horse and be Proud cutt. Being he already knew like the vet said? Some horses will act studdy.
