I am posting this for Karen, she still can't post and has sent this to me via e-mail. I have copied & pasted below her message.

 

I am sending this out to everyone. If you have a dog, or have friends with dogs, especially small dogs, please pass this on. Wal Mart, and other stores probably, have a new treat called Chicken Jerky Tenders for dogs. They are dried up breast meat tenders that are real chicken. The brand name is "Waggin' Train". These look like really nice natural treats but they are hard as rocks. If a dog gets a piece stuck they are stiff and sharp. A friend of mine lost her chihuahua this morning after giving her one of these treats. PLEASE be careful and break these into tiny pieces or don't use them at all with small dogs. I have a picture of the bag if anyone would like to see them. I have purchased these myself and though the crunchiness was a GOOD thing, so they wouldn't get stuck like treats that get gummy in their throat. But I hadn't thought about how wedged they would get when they stay that hard and the edges get so sharp. I broke one into pieces this morning, and some of the edges were SHARP. Mine are in the trash. Please keep a good thought for my friend today and her family. They are devastated. Karen

We recently seen those at Walmart! They looked like they would be safer than what they are! I am so glad we never decided to buy any.

Goodness!  That's horrible!    How tragic!  I am so sorry for your friend, that is so sad. 
Thanks for the warning, and it is very interesting to know.  Luckily for me we dont get Walmart in England.

Thanks for posting that for me Jenn! I told my friend that we can NOT get her little girl back, but we can spread the word and maybe save a few others. I had a close call once with one of those pressed rawhide things and I will never forget it. I can't begin to imagine having that happen.
