I know it needs to be done... but the quotes I've gotten are $300-$425!! It cost less than half of that to get my HORSE fixed! Seriously though... there is honestly no way I can afford that... perhaps one more reason I can't keep her. cry

Stacey that seems like an INSANE price to me.  My boys were under $100 and the last girl I had done was $120. WITH pain meds and a free follow up.  The highest I've found was $200. TOPS.
Is anyone else shocked? It would be cheaper for you to come down here and get it done!

Our vet keeps our chis overnight with this surgery for observation.. and yes, someone is there...
The charge for female spaying with pain meds and follow up is $250. They always do blood workup prior to putting any of our guys "under" which is included. Deb

I just pulled out some records of my vet bills. Jasmine and Molly were spayed for $299.40 with the anesthetic price of that being $99.20. $75 dollars covered the vets actual surgical work.. others is for equipment like iv bags, lines, lab tests and the follow up visit one to two weeks later.
We live in Sudbury, about four hours north of Toronto Stacey.
Hope that helps out.

I'm afraid I have no idea what prices should be in the US.  I am also looking at getting Ellie spayed very soon and I'm expecting it to cost around £100 I guess.

I think Abby's spay fee was $162.00. $45.00 for the spay, $50.00 for blood work, $12.00 for pain meds etc....No check in or check out fees. This includes the follow up visit to remove stitches also. It was done early onemorning and she came home that evening about 4 PM . Dr. Stout is oneof the best here too. Not just some fly by night guy. Geeze your vets are expensive further up North I guess. I am in East Texas.

Vet services in Canada are much higher than they are in the US.

Sorry Stacey for the trouble you are facing, what are you going to do? I would really hate to see you give up that little girl.

Wow, that seems so high. My vet only charges $65.00 to fix a male and $75.00 for a female. I think I'll stay in Oklahoma.

Louise, Its all those extra fees that mine added on that made mine so high. The surgery itself was not that bad. Maybe I'll come to Oklahoma to visit my daughter if I need another pup spayed ...LOL
