In general, any breed, neutered males get along better in my experience. Or neutered males with girls. The worst issues I've ever heard about were intact females together. The girls, once they start fighting, they don't stop.
For me, the only issue we've ever had that was MAJOR involved an intact male pup. He decided he hated one of my boys, and would climb three STACKED baby gates and fling himself over to try to eat him. He went to a home with one little spayed female and he was fine.
If I were going for pets only, I honestly prefer neutered males if there are going to be multiple dogs. With one nice girl to keep them in line. LOL

Can't say that I can be much help here. I have the 2 boys and 1 girl but they are all fixed. They all get along fine but I know with intact chis it can be a whole different thing. hmm

I agree with Karen.. I have found the males more tolerant of each other. I have 8 chis.. 2 girls and 6 boys.. As long as the girls are spayed, things are fine...My boys all play together and seem very close to each other.. My girls are more "stand offish" in the pack. They both seem closer to Charlie the pug than to the other chis..lol Cocoa and Fancy both like to sleep snuggled up to Charlie Chan..lol My boys have an established pecking order where each knows his standing in the pack.. and it works quite well..

I agree with the others. I have two girls. Abby is spayed and Roxie is not and she trys to dominate over the older Abby. Abby did not accept her well at first either, and if I had gotten a male she probably would have accepted it better because she loved our male we had before and my sister in laws big male dog. But we had a definite reason for getting another female. Some do better with a different combination, I think it just depends on what you really want and what you are willing to put up with and the dogs personality. This is just my opinion. Now they play a lot but Roxie gets angry playing and gets too rough.

I can't be of any help, I have spayed females, and the biggest one and the oldest one had issues one time, but with a baptism involving diet coke, it was settled and quite fast

All 6 of my Chi's are intact, 2 males and 4 females and live together all the time and get along great!! Of course they have their pecking order spats, Penny is the Alpha and lets everyone know it with a growl and a bite on the lip, but no fighting at all!!They all play and run and sleep together . Maybe I am just lucky!

All I my babes are female. I have never had a problem with them fighting all the time. There are times like all siblings they have tiffs but not consistantly. I am affraid to add a male to the mix. Not that I am going to breed but I have never had any luck with the male pets. :(

I haven't had any troubles with my chis....I guess Merrie would be the alpha here, but she is still a bit on the passive side...and she even typically lets the other two eat first, laying down beside the food dishes until the other two fill up, then she will finish up. They all have their moments, but no big spats :)
