Bil Jac Dog Food

Has anyone used Bil Jac dog food and if you did were you pleased? I was given a sample when we went to get the Royal Canin for the girls today. We make a 55 mile round trip to be able to get it. But so far it has been worth it..I bought a large bag this time and put some in a canister and the resealed the rest and will put it in the freezer to keep it fresh. I could get the Bil Jac here in Nacogdoches and it is about the same price as the RC. I put a little out to see what the girls would do. Abby ate some but I never saw Roxie pick up a little kibble of it. It is shaped like rabbit food and would be very easy to chew if you have a puppy that needs a very easy to chew teensy kibble. We will be on the RC for awhile since they are doing great on it. I was just wondering if any of you had used the Bil- Jac.

I LOVE Bil-Jac! I have to order it up her because no one carries it any more! I pay outrageous shipping, but I think it is worth it for my babies! I mix it with their normal dog food though. It has alot of sugars in it and you have to be careful about it rotting their teeth. It is a great dog food and my guys love it too! I can recommend it highly. Now if I could get it here cheaper I would be a happy camper!

sorry not a fan of bil-jac i used to feed it to Taz And used to be a big fan of it untill i noticed Taz was putting on a little more weight than normal and my vet at the time said to be careful with bil-jac because it has chicken by-products in it, which in some dogs may put on more weight than whats healthy for them.Taz now eats Natures select(they deliver to my house) He seems to have kept a healthy weight sence. Talk with your vet

Becky - i know a lot of people love Bil-jac.  Personally i've never used it :(

As far as the chicken by-products - most dog foods have that - almost all unfortunately.   You would have to read ingredients.  I know one of factors some people favor bil-jac is it's supposedly not by-products as you think (some dog foods actually use the feet, feathers, etc.) - it's the organ meat and also, because it is supposed to be a higher nutrition count, you don't feed them as much to stop the weight gain.

You should look at the ingredients - whatever is first is what they have most of - i do tend to stay away from by-products if it's listed first - stay away from "fillers".    I'm actually thinking of trying the new wellness for my bigger dogs as it has no wheat products in it.

Becky, I have used Bil Jax and have been very pleased. I get it at Pet Smart here. They gave me a free box of the dry senior menu to try on my sons old Pug and it sure was great for her. She has put her weight back on and is more active. We mix it with Iams for her.
I also mix the two for my crew and they don't get as much Bil jax as they would like. They like it so much that they will pig out on it if I don't limit them. It's not that expensive either. $4.79 for the 5lb bag.

I hadn't even heard of this brand of food before. I'll have to check it out and the ingredients when I go to PetSmart again. Hopefully they will have it here in my area.

Louise I wish I had read this sooner. I have coupons that I could have put in the mail with the other stuff I mailed you this morning. Well maybe mine will get to liking it soon. Then I won't have to drive to Lufkin to get Royal Canin. LOL
