In the last 24 hours, I have noticed Mater has lost copious amounts of fur. Now of course with his fur being long and white, and my couch being black, it really stands out! But, there seems to be loads of it, almost in clumps. Tho, when looking at him, you wouldn't know that he lost any. He has been out in the sun lots this last week, so maybe it is just time to shed?? I also bathed him yesterday, then put advantage on him (not the first time), would that cause a reaction?
It's spring! You've had him out in the nice warm sun and he's ready for summer! Some show breeders actually keep all their long coats in air conditioning 24/7 to keep them in full winter coat. I noticed my Yoshi was shedding more when I washed his belly this morning. I love his winter double coat and he's getting his little nekkid spring belly already. I'd keep an eye out because of the Advantage, but I'm guessing it's just a spring thing.
I would have been comfortable with assuming it was spring that was causing it if i hadn't just flea treated him. But I have used Advantage all last year on all of them and never had a problem, so I am guessing it is just what you said it is. But I will continue to keep my eye on him just in case. Merrie has blown coat already, but it happened a few weeks ago when she was in heat....I sure hope she doesn't loose more because of the sun, lol!! Looking back at last years pics when the two of them blew coat, they looked rediculous!! Little lions :)
Yes, it is a bit odd to see them. Violet has big poofy ears and then a slinky coat right now. She looks eternally surprised with her ears like that. LOL
LOL! Exactly!!! Mater still is wearing his big bloomers, and has a nice ruff around his neck and head, and a huge plume of a tail, but I can see his body is looking a tad short and stringy, lol, poor dude! Merrie is stuck with a nice lion mane, and some stringy bloomers and pouffy tail. I am assuming it is only going to get worse with time, but I am really excited to see what they will both look like this next winter. They are both turning 1 soon, so I am thinking their coats hadn't made full potential yet before shedding.
It took years before Maybish got a full blown coat for several years, she had the pants and the ears, Her tail was iffy, and her coat looked short coat, Cee is the only one I know for sure that both parents were long coat, and she does seem to be the furriest of the bunch at her age
Yeah, Merrie's Mm was a long coat, and her Daddy a short but thick coat, and it looked longer in places, so I have a feeling one of his parents was a long coat too. When I bought Merrie, she was only 10 days old, and I didn't know if she was going to be long or short for a bit...but when it came in her breeder told me she was a long double coat...now I am not sure...I am thinking just long. He coat was finally coming in beautifully, nice and thick and shiney, then she hit heat, and it is still long, but now most of it clings to her body. Mater's dad is a double coat, and his mom is a long coat...and up til last night, he had the double coat going for him too, but now the couch has a fur coat, lol.
Cee is a furry little girlie. Mine are SC but after being out they were shedding a little worse this week. I have a glove that has little soft rubber teeth on it that I use to brush mine with. They love it. It gets a lot of the loose hair off of them and works well on the furniture and my clothes also.

I forget how young they are! You probably have spring coats blowing and adult coats changing at the same time. You might have them looking a bit squirrely for a while now. But I think they are going to be gorgeous when the coat comes back!
