Gabriella is my chi poo. She is getting her first haircut tomorrow. I want it short so I can see her frame as she grows, at least for now. But I don't want her scalped either. I've always had wash and wear dogs, so is there something specific I need to tell them? Would "puppy cut" be what I want? I had an old rescue shih tzu a few years ago, but he had been badly abused and I had to give him a little homemade haircut. No one else could touch him. Gabby is WAY too small for me to even consider putting clippers near that tiny face. Help!
I would just see what they would suggest. Just tell them what you have in mind mainlyshe looks fuzzy but kinda thin hair?? Is it? Get some pictures after her hair cut

I had a rescue Shih Ztuj aswell! She too had been horribly abused and we used to do her trims ourselves! She was called Izzy and she was my first ever dog. Sadly Izzy passed away three years ago now. I still miss her.
Oh, and I agree with Bluebrookchis, see what the grooming place suggests. Also, 100% in agreement on what she said about pics afterwards! Oooh, you could have before and after pics!
i'm probably a little late on this but something like a #4 of #5 blade will leave her with enough hair to not look bad and you will be able to see her frame.
