Well, Pixie, I don't like the thought of giving Greenies to any dog. (My Opinion) First off, they don't seem to be as edible as they are supposed to be. They have caused blockages in some dogs, from swallowing pieces of the Greenie. While death has occured in a few cases. But, I won't give anything that looks "hard to eat". Especially chews and treats that have a "plastic" look is a definate no-no for us.

But, when it comes right down to it, it really depends. I mean, some people have given there dogs Greenies for years with no problems. So, it really depends on how you look at it.

Hmmm, I'm always hearing about Greenies!  What are they?!  I dont think we get them here.

I have heard bad things about them from other Chi owners, but if your Vet said they were ok I think I'd feel better about giving them.  Whatever they are!  lol  I guess if you do give them to Pixie just keep a really close eye on her while she's eating them.  Sorry I cant be of more help!

I have heard a lot of bad stuff about greenies and never heard anything good so I just choose not to give them to Bella.

My vet said that they changed the formula, so there won't be any blockage problems.  My dogs love them, but as a precaution I usually take it away when it gets to a nub.

Jess, Greenies are a chew treat to help with cleaning the teeth.

Yes, Greenies recently changed their product to "fix" the problems that some dogs were having. I am wondering if they really are safe to give them now. There is info about them on their site. They say that they taste the same but are now very digestible. I hope so cause my chis love them but I have not gave them any in a long time.

Well I've just looked at their website and they really bang on about their products being digestible.  When I Googled it it came up with  like 'Greenies-the edible chew'!  Me think the lady does protest too much?!  (Shakespear)  I dont think I can get them here, but if I could I think I'd be wary just because they try too hard to convince us they're safe.

I do have to say that we have tried the new greenies and are quite impressed. They do disolve much easier than the older ones, and all of the kids here seemed to love them. I dont know if they are still doing the promotion but on there website there used to be a link for a free greenie just so everyone could try the "new" formula. I was fairly skeptical about trying them again after all the controversy. We do though, like mentioned earlier, take them away when they get small.

my chis LOVE them. i give them the little bag, i think its called bits or something. and the did change the formula. i work at  a pet store and rememeber getting a "memo" saying they did. if you would like a good treat for them, pig ears or good cause they have to chew them, unlike rawhide it doesn't get soggy and they can't swollow them
